Spirits unPACKED™ Report - France

The alcoholic beverage universe is home to a wide array of drinks – from beers to wines and spirits to cocktails, shoppers have an abundance of choice.  In France, popular selections include wine, beer, cognac and armagnac – notably for special occasions – and spirits, such as aniseed-flavoured aperitifs, whiskies, and even digestifs. Across alcoholic beverages, and looking more closely at spirits, the backdrop is constantly evolving.  As shopper preferences shift, brands must adapt quickly to meet evolving consumer demands. In the alcohol spirits category in France, similar to other parts of the world, there's been a noticeable shift towards premiumisation, with consumers increasingly favouring higher quality, craft spirits in place of mass-produced options.  Additionally, there's growing interest in locally produced spirits, such as French gins, liqueurs and whiskies from the likes of Citadelle, Cusenier, Lefort and Fondaudège, reflecting a broader trend of supporting regional products. To stay relevant in a dynamic market, brands must continually evolve, to ensure they address the latest needs and expectations of their consumer base.

These types of considerations and more are frequently imparted upon shoppers vis-à-vis a spirit’s packaging.  At Behaviorally, we understand the impact effective packaging has on consumer behaviour; it's a vehicle that goes beyond housing the product - which directly influences whether or not shoppers complete a transaction.  As a typical first point of contact between a product and a consumer shopping in an aisle, packaging can make or break a brand within seconds.

As we continue to focus on spirits we will exemplify best-in-class packaging that drives transactions in the French market - packaging that captures shoppers’ eyes, simplifies key decisions, impacts shopper sentiment, confirms category costs-of-entry, and ultimately drives shopper selection.  In other words, packaging that is Seen, Shoppable, Seductive and Selected!

Every pack. unPACKED.
